Drain Patch /
re-lining

With time, drains
can crack due to ground movement and subsidence, can become damaged by
root infiltration and may eventually lead to a total collapse.
This can lead to repeated blockages and could even cause an
environmental incident. Our CCTV engineers can not only diagnose these
problems but can also suggest the most appropriate remedial action.
Depending on the extent and nature of the problem our engineers can
suggest a number of different methods of drain repairs that may not
necessarily lead to excavating the drain. Our range of no dig
technologies can be particularly effective in situations such as drain
problems occurring under properties or conservatories where excavation
would be expensive and very disruptive. With localised non structural
defect drains or small cracks or holes in pipes; patch lining can be a
useful solution. This technique involves placing, with the aid of CCTV,
a resin coated fibre glass mat over the exact location of the defect.
When positioned an elongated inflatable bladder is used to fix the patch
in place. The bladder pressure is maintained until the resin is cured
and then the inflatable device is simply deflated and extracted. The
integrity of the repair is then checked with a post installation CCTV
survey. Isolated defects are increasingly
being repaired using this cost effective method which can in some
circumstances be completed from start to finish within a couple of
hours. Some times however the damage is more extensive involving whole
sections of drain. In these circumstances a drain relining service
running from manhole to manhole can be performed. Again this technique
will invariably be much cheaper, less disruptive and much less time
consuming to perform than excavation. The liner is impregnated with
resin and inserted into the drain. The liner is then inverted using air
pressure and left to cure. This technique is effective for clay, plastic
and pitch fibre of all sizes from 75mm upwards, and leaves the pipes in
an "as new" condition. Depending on the ambient temperature, the drains
can usually be fully functional within 24 hours. Sometimes during the
structural re-lining process, incoming connections are lined over. In
these situations, we will use state of the art robotic lateral cutters
to cut the liner, opening up the closed connection. These diamond headed
tools are used in conjunction with the cctv equipment to ensure the
accuracy of the cut. When pitch fibre pipes become deformed, we can also
carry out a re-shaping service. Once the re-shaping has been completed,
the line can then re-lining can be carried out.
All work is to high
specification and fully guaranteed.
